Oh! You bake the cakes and you hollow them out to fill with sweets and frost it to seal it up! When you cut into it...tada! Candy surprise.

[She looks too pleased.] But I'm experimenting with the kinds of cakes.

[ he is not a baker, so he just nods slowly ]

What kind?

I was thinking a spice cake with cinnamon buttercream frosting and cinnamon candies inside. A good balance of sweet and spicy which is the challenging part.

[soba]

That sounds... good?

[ HE THINKS IT DOES,,, he is not a cake expert ]

[She nods to herself and begins to go back to her baking.]

Did you need something from me, Kuji? You rang the bell.

Huh? Oh, right.

What the hell is with the sleep thing?

[cluedin]

Which one? [She's asking if he means curfew or. This new non-sleep thing.]

What's affecting us this week.

[ listen. he could excuse the first day of no sleep because going 24 hours without it is like, still bad but not too unusual

but something is clearly Wrong ]

That weird message on Monday talked about staying up for days, didn't it?

[cluedin]

It did. Those messages play a lot. [But she sort of shrugs after that.] Do you have any ideas what may be causing the lack of sleep?

[soba]

It said something about how... until someone dies, we won't sleep, right?

[ he is trying not to think about the story that went before it ]

[cluedin]

Right. But then the question is...is that really happening? Or is it mind over matter? [Toi's 100% valid.]

[soba]

I'm really not a deep person.

[ stop asking him psychological questions ]

... still, it has to be more than that. No one else is sleeping too.

Okay, so we won't do deep and critical thinking on this. [She waves a hand.] On a basic level then, what do you think could be causing something like that?

[soba]

[ he actually snorts a little at that. ]

Well, there's already something weird going on in this house-- like being forced to move on our own, or us falling asleep suddenly on Thursday nights. I dunno, magic?

[cluedin]

Magic...[ She muses on that.] What do you know about magic? Does it exist where you're from?

[soba]

Uh... sort of?

I'm not really sort if it would be the sort of 'magic' most people would think of.

[ he's thinking about butt stuff ]

[I went back to bed after this bc I didn't want to think about butt stuff.]

The whole kappa thing, right?

[ he nods his head ]

Pretty much, yeah. That's not actually normal for where I'm from though. I didn't know anything like that could happen until we broke the statue.

[cluedin]

Do other people, like, know about that? Have you ever had to explain it to anyone else?

[soba]

I haven't explained anything until I got here. Why would anyone believe me?

[ he pauses ]

Most of it, people can't even see. And the shit they can see... they just sort of explain it away with bad logic. People like to fit things into their own perspectives.

[cluedin]

I see...[She seems to have a point to this, but she's going to keep asking.] Do you feel like people are going to do that here in this house to explain what's happening to them?

[soba]

What?

Like... we're going to try to pin our own explanations for it, whether or not it's true?

[cluedin]

Yeah, that exactly. Do you think that's how people are going to respond?
