[ Thank you for asking, the letters D E A T H are tattooed on each of its knuckles. Nothing happens when he takes the key, though. Congrats.
The name section of the clipboards has faded too much, but you can read the letters D E P S and M B I S on each. Once again, most of the medical jargon is impossible to make out, but there are some notes in blue pen.
The first reads: Twins. Even get sick together. Fascinating. While the second says: Recommended a few tricks even after they coughed up blood. Worth looking into. Also recommended nurses instead.
There's nothing in the bathroom here either, though Lio will find a similar array of objects in the cupboard as the other room. This one includes a slightly rusty scalpel next to the lollipops. When Beau pops her head under the bed, though, she'll see what looks like an odd box smack dab underneath the middle.
Brilith should tell Galo not to bring the hand back even if it has a cool tattoo. ]
[Bloody and a hand? This is all so great. so so great.]
Bring it with you.
[Apparently not going to tell him to leave the hand behind. Taking some of those medical supplies and lollipops himself this time - including the scalpel. Why not. Loot. If Beau is grabbing the box, finally available to hustle. Looking at the options their exploration.
Just going down the path to the right. Speedrun!!]
[ if she really had to get locked in some creepy place like this, then why on earth did it have to be either people who would want to bring back a severed hand? brilith is suffering.
but she'll move out of the way so galo can exit the horrible spike room easily, and when lio nyooms down the hall, she almost follows out of pure concern. but beau is here, so she stays behind for now and just... calls after lio like that will do any good at all. ]
[ beau is in the middle of grabbing the box when lio NYOOMS off, and she also shouts over her shoulder: ]
Lio! Stop, dumbass, you're gonna get hurt!
[ she says dumbass lovingly. in fact if anybody has a bit of a link to her she's Very Worried. anyway she'll pull the box out and open it, after putting the clipboards on the ground for a moment. she's taking all of those clipboards with her out of the hospital. ]
[He grabs the hand when Lio tells him to and starts to crawl out, and then when Brilith tells him to leave the hand he just kind of. Drops it on the floor.
Anyway, he’s out with the keys. He’s fairly unconcerned with Lio running off. Instead, starting to head back in the direction of the hallways with the keys,.]
You’re sure we don’t want to check out the growling room?
[ Beau is not going to be opening that box! Because it is chained shut with three different padlocks, as well as needing a key to open it. Two of the padlocks are a different kind of number combination, and one is a simple one with key. Damn. Someone wanted to keep this locked tight and then just put it in a random room in the middle of the floor. Weird.
The hand just kind of stays on the ground where Galo dropped it, and there is no sound coming from the "mushroom room".
Lio makes his abrupt run to the right hallway...and the lights that had been flickering up until now abruptly turn off. It is pitch black for a second before what can only be emergency lights come on. That's what you'll have to assume, at least, seeing as you cannot see them. The group will just find that everything is now bathed in a dark, red light. Even those are flickering from time to time, pitching them in total darkness.
Anyway Lio can see the door to a supply closet not far from where he is, a sign that announces public bathrooms coming up, and an open door a bit further away. Anything more is a little awkward to make out in the new lighting. ]
And if they chase you? What if they have a weapon, or magic?
[ aaaaaa she's so stressed. so stressed!! then the lights go out and WELP. WELP!!!! wow, she wishes she brought her staff or something, this is awful!
shouldn't someone go with him? galo seems intent on checking that room, and beau is focused on that box, so... guess that just leaves brilith? this is terrible. it's not like she'll be able to help, without any magic or even a basic weapon. ]
[ AAAAAH THE LIGHTS. beau looks up at them, alarmed, and then just. slowly inches her way out of the room with the box and her forty clipboards. she does not want to be trapped in a room with a door, honestly. she'll sit like right outside of the room in the hallway.
she's gonna try opening this box with codes - she tries 13, 25 and 09 on both locks, and then tries the numbers associated with D E P S and M B I S if 1 = a letter, so 4, 5, 16, 19 and 13, 2, 9, 19. she'll also try like... birth dates of the twins' clipboards if there's any information like that on there. ]
[ The 13, 25 and 09 code works on one of the locks! The chain falls down. The twins' birthday-- 08/31-- does not. The small rusted key Galo throws at Beau works on another one of the padlocks. Good job, Beau. Halfway there on opening this box!!!
Galo opens the door to room 102 and ... nothing. Nothing seems to have moved, and nothing is making a sound. The odd thing growing in the corner of the room on top of a stain is still there, though with the new set of lights, it's even harder to tell what it could be. Everything else in the room seems empty.
Lio and Brilith, meanwhile, attempt to enter a supply closet. There are shelves on all three sides of the room that go up to near the ceiling, making it extremely claustrophobic. It isn't very big and it's hard to see inside, but the shelves look like a bit of a mess. No one is winning any organization awards here. Everything looks a bit gunky and dirty as well... even the flashlight on Brilith's side. There is a box with a label that is hard to make out on one of the highest shelves. Everything else that is eye level with our two adventurers does not seem to have any use.
In the distance, the group may hear a loud thumping sound, once. I'm sure that's nothing. ]
[ ugh. this is so gross? disgusting! obviously someone else should be touching this gross thing, but since they're in dire straits with the lights out, brilith will very gingerly pick the flashlight up to see if it works, pointing it upward toward lio's goal.
that, uhhhh, thumping sound, though? yikes? it startles her, so she's taking a few steps back toward where galo and beau still are, poised as if she's ready to yeet the flashlight at anything that shows up. ]
[ oh. the thumping sound is alarming. beau is triumphantly punching the air at getting two padlocks open when she hears it, which means she freezes, trying to figure out where it's coming from.
she doesn't want to leave the box, but. she also needs to help investigate, and find the last two keys, whether it be physical or a code. so she picks up the box, her clipboards, and starts walking down the hallway. galo's probably fine on his own.
she's trying to find brilith and lio, but she goes a bit too far and ends up near the bathrooms instead, peering into them to see if there's anything of note. ]
[Galo’s going to look around to see if there are any other loose tiles or anything else that stands out in the room besides this nasty thing. But once he’s finished, taking...the hand...and poking at it.]
[ The shelves wobble a bit, but Lio successfully climbs for the box. There is something vaguely rifle shaped next to it. He could probably take both if he wanted to?
The flashlight works! It illuminates Lio's path only long enough for him to see that the box is labelled DRGZ, and then Brilith rightfully fucks off to safety in somewhere that isn't a closet, so, fair enough.
The bathrooms are pretty big, so it's hard to tell just by peering ... there does seem to be something in one of the sinks, though.
Nothing else stands out in the room. There's the usual bed and clipboard, but that's it. So Galo goes up to the thing to attempt to poke it with the hand-- it's probably easier once he's there to realize the stain is a mostly dry puddle of blood. It's probably also easier to realize the thing wasn't entirely growing out of it but drinking from it when it turns sharply and latches onto the hand once it comes near it, attacking with all its mouths. Two of its heads are still free even after it catches the hand, and so it attempts to latch onto Galo's arm, since it's the closest thing to it.
There is something shiny a little further from the gross blood puddle it was drinking from. It is well within its reach, however.
There is a second thump. It sounds a little closer? ]
[ Yes definitely taking the cool drugz for kidz box - is it big? He’s shoving it in his giant pockets if he can - AND the rifle shaped thing. He’s not much of a gun guy, but listen there’s ominous thumping and you never know. Once he’s down he’ll look back at what the rest of these losers are doing and then actually cautiously heading for the open door at the end of the hall now. See he can have some sense now and then. ]
[ hm, to go with lio or to head back to relative safety with beau? decisions, decisions.
no matter how tempting it is to leave lio to his death, brilith can't bring herself to do it. with a huff that's both frustration and stress, she follows a few paces behind, pointing the light at the open door.
if they survive this experience, she is not going anywhere without a weapon anymore. she's too tired for this!! ]
[Galo tosses the hand when the creature snags it, and is going for the axe when the nasty thing latches on. Fortunately, he’s wearing a baggy tracksuit jacket loose and unzipped, so he just twirls out of the sleeves when the mouths grab it, abandoning his jacket, and dives for the shiny thing on the ground.
Once he’s grabbed it, he’ll try to run out of the range of the mouths.]
Hey! There’s a nasty monster in here! But it’s fine!
[ It is exactly what you think it is Flurry. Anyway if Beau is willing to ignore the crying and wiggling ... thing ... in the middle sink, she'll notice that she can see something reflected in the dirty mirror beside herself. Standing in front of the stalls is a vague, translucent shape... about the size of a toddler.
For team Lio and Brilith: It's a decently sized box. It definitely won't fit in Lio's pockets, but he can probably carry it easily under his arm. Now that Brilith is shining the light directly on his path and he's gotten it down, though, he'll see that what he grabbed was not quite a rifle. The gas canister is only about half full, but it sure is there.
Once they get to the open door, they'll find that it seems to be a doctor's office. There's a filing cabinet, a desk with a few drawers, a locker and a model skeleton in the corner of the room. They'll also find that the blood trail on the wall clearly led here; it is caked with blood.
I rolled for it and I am VERY upset that Galo manages to distract the leeches long enough to grab the shiny thing and bolt out. They hiss and reach for him to no avail. Galo has obtained another key! He is just collecting those things, now.
[Hahaha!!!! Hahahahhahahah!!!!!! Well, Galo, for the first time since jacking into Lio's feelings, you'll be experiencing a REAL SURGE of TRUE JOY at the gift of a flamethrower. Lio is . . . truly elated. Actually grinning. Amazing.]
Finally. It seems it was worth it to come in here.
[For the flamethrower?? Anyway, thank you for the assist, Brilith. Turning to her, offering the box. He has to be able to use two hands to wield this thing.]
Would you be able to carry this?
[Then, fuck it, speedrun! Heading into the Doctor's office and just starting to tear anything apart that could have something interesting. Anything on the desk or in the drawers? In the locker? Cabinet? Under the desk? That blood trail is fine. With the power of FIRE, he has lost all sense of fear. This is probably not great.]
Aw, fuck, gross. [ beau grumbles, wrinkling her nose as she looks at the... thing in the sink. she feels kind of bad for just leaving it there, but. she also really doesn't want to take it with her.
she does see the little baby in the mirror, though! she turns around, crouching down. ]
Oh. Hey, buddy. You good? [ she can hear the thump, and it's making her nervous, but she also doesn't want to scare the ghost away this time. ]
[He’s darting out of the room when he remembers the clipboards and darts to the bed to grab it before he runs out. Of course, that’s when he’s hit with a huge burst of Lio’s horniness for fire. Anything that makes Lio that happy is probably. Not something he’s gonna like.]
Aha! Ahaha! Shit!
[But oh yeah! The monster! Yeah, trying to run out the room and get away from that guy!]
