PROFESSORS & THE DOCTOR

It's an ordinary Monday. Whether you rose with the sun or enjoyed a little lie in, the day proceeds as it has just like the days before it. However, sometime in the early afternoon you soon feel an increasing sense of curiosity that compels you to open the nearest door. No matter where you are, this door leads you to a small, cozy office. The fireplace crackles, soft lights illuminate the furniture around the room, and the three members of Master Blue's staff immediately rise to their feet.

ROLE INFORMATION

As the Doctor:
Every Monday, the Doctor will meet with the staff and be given the opportunity to grant two players protection for the week. One name may be submitted to protect a victim from a monstrous foe, and the other name may be submitted to protect a victim from a kill by human means. The Doctor may not grant these two forms of immunity to the same person, however.

Should the Doctor choose to protect someone and that person is selected as a victim, the Doctor's name will be provided as the victim and they will be given the change to fight back against the killer. They may or may not survive this encounter.

The choices must be made at the time of the meeting. The Doctor only gets one meeting per week and they must choose wisely who they wish to protect. The Doctor also has the option not to submit their choices.

As the Professor:
Professors will be allowed to choose one guest to learn of their whereabouts and ongoings in the mansion. The Professors must agree on who this person is, as they are only allowed one choice per week. Once the Professors have selected a pick, the staff will provide them with a list of guests their pick has spoken with in the past week, locations they have visited, and other relevant information.

Professors will also be able to send one anonymous message to one guest in the game per week. This person may not be the same as their other pick, and the Professors do not have to agree on a recipient. Should a note not be sent that week, the opportunity will be lost.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

The Professors & the Doctor will be allowed to ask questions about the ongoings of the mansion. They will also be able to receive small hints should they perform well, including game mechanics, locations and more. However, the staff have final say as to what information is shared. Be sure to pick your questions wisely!

While teamwork is encouraged, it's not required. That decision is up to you.

There are two things we take into consideration when selecting a person to check. One, if that person is naturally evasive or unfavorable, that will make it more difficult to determine when something has gone wrong. The second criteria is more... subjective. As the person's personality influences the creature to a certain extent, we also consider who would do the most damage should they transform and go on a rampage.

[So, like, whoever they're saltiest at that week.]

The notes we send to someone who will share the information they receive. Fotia-san is now immune to the oddity, so he is the best candidate to send a note to this week.

[ she thinks about that for a moment, fiddling with the locket around her neck. ]

Right, okay. So like - what exactly does the check tell us? Shouldn't we check someone who is naturally evasive, so we can make sure they can't weasel out of getting picked during the trial? Or am I misunderstanding?

I'm fine with sending a note to Lio, that makes the most sense. I have people I'd send one to but I gotta not be obvious, so.

It would be smart to keep personal bias out of the decision, so as not to make ourselves suspicious. We chose Hunter last week due to his immunity, and I believe Galo was chosen because they knew he would immediately share it with everyone.

We did. Thymos-san is the type of person who immediately spreads any information he finds, after all. That was the logic we used with Akira, too.

Mmhm. Lio will tell people - he'll. Probably tell me, actually, which means I can pass it on to other people if I gotta.

Ken would too, probably, and - uh. That's about all else I trust to spread info, actually.

We can include a request to spread the information as we have done in the past. But remember that we have to trust each other. [Which is a wild thing for him to say, actually.] The house is our true enemy. We cannot allow it to trick us into turning our aggression towards each other.

I'm afraid it's not that simple. The check tells us who they spoke to in the previous week, if they have a job like a job like us, and their current fluctuation levels. I'm not in the habit of allowing people to "weasel" out of things midtrial, either, so that isn't a concern.

[They're playing the lottery here, basically.]

We only get to send one note. In light of what happened during the trial... [A brief flicker of annoyance on his face.] It would be best if I took care of the contents once we have received our results for this week.

I know you aren't. I'm willing to help more with the strip searches too, more than I have been.

[ a beat, and she scowls. ] Listen. I was working with the info I had available to me. Don't fucking get on my case about it, there's so much information floating around and half of it isn't even fucking right.

[He just......... gives her a look.]

Is there a reason why you're so aggravated with me? I have said nothing to imply I'm blaming you, or that I would present the final draft without first discussing it as a group.

[ part of it is just her cursing makes her so so much more angry than she actually is, it's such a problem. ]

Look, all I've heard after trial was how stupid me and A-Sang are to question everything. So I'm heading it off now. And you said it's best I take care of the contents - which usually means someone's just going to take over.

It means that I will take care of how we phrase it, for clarity. If you take everything I say as a personal attack, our partnership will not go well.

[ she gives him such a look. ]

It's already not going well. But fine. Whatever.

[Returning that look.]

Do you have any additional questions? You might have already guessed, but the sisters have specifically asked us not to divulge our job to anyone outside of this team.

No, I think I get what's going on. I'm not gonna tell anybody. I don't actually want to die, despite what everybody keeps telling me. [ grumble. ] So what are we doing now - do you have any suggestions on who to check this week?

Is it one or two people? Because the notes before had two people, right?

I am considering Ayabe-san. [A beat.] Or Akira.

One. I had an item that allowed me to check an additional person last week. That was a special case. Hunter was included in the previous note because we thought someone would become paranoid that he was still infected. Meltryllis... was a mistake. Our first note mentioned only one individual, but the person who received it refused to share.

Gimme your reasons for suspecting Ayabe and Akira.

[ and - hey, context! ] Oh. Man, we were wrong. Who was the first person who got a note?

I fear Ayabe-san may target more than one person if he transforms. Akira... [...] He is well-regarded by everyone. People are easily fooled when they wish to believe the worst hasn't come to pass. Even Thymos-san suspected Lio this weekend, and failed to say anything. But, to be blunt, there is no one who is more easily infected than another. We are playing a game of chance.

Yeah, honestly? I think Akira's a good choice. There's a few people here that everybody trusts, and we gotta make sure it stays that way. We can't just assume certain people will be fine just because we trust them.

He's a good voice during the trial too, so knowing that he is or isn't a monster makes it easier for us to let him speak up.

Right. If we are settled, we can proceed to check Akira.

By the way, Beauregard-san, what items do you currently possess? We need to pool our resources together now that you have joined our team.

I've got a shield that's supposed to protect me from a hit, according to Nie Huaisang. I've got a medallion that lets me see into a place I can't reach. Brilith and I got a knife, few weeks ago, for participating in that challenge. She's got it, though. I know a couple of items other people have, too. Just in case you wanna know that.

Oh, and I can use my ki. Just once, though.

...Blue mentioned that the cure isn't a physical item we can craft, but rather a... a metaphysical one. They wouldn't explain it any more than that, but... they said we would be able to find it, given experience.
