shakes fist... akechi...

so a lot of beau's feelings about akechi are wrapped up in feelings about phoenix, it's like, impossible to separate the two. beau spent most of the game thinking akechi was up his own ass, like he thought he was too important to deal with her. she thought he was up to something and had more information than he was letting on from the start and she was RIGHT. but she didn't feel like trying to harass him for information, really; she figured she could run her own circle, and akechi could have his.

and then phoenix died, and beau inherited the role.

so beau has a huge thing about Authority. she hates being told what to do, she hates coming into a situation not knowing what's going on and she especially hates when people who are in the know talk to her like they're smarter than her. she also was keenly feeling the loss of phoenix, was upset because she felt like maybe she wasn't as important to phoenix as she thought because she didn't know about his role, and had this MASSIVE, MASSIVE need to prove herself and make him proud. so combine all that with the fact that she felt like akechi knew phoenix better than her, there was no way it wasn't going to be fucking awful.

immediately she was on edge, because akechi is shady and because like the first thing he said to her was the senpai thing, which rubbed her the wrong way, and she was about ready to beat his ass. but. she didn't. partially because of luna. partially because of peach. and partially because she knew phoenix would want them to work together.

so she threw herself into her work. she tried as hard as she could to pool her resources, sending akechi messages to make sure he knew everything she did (including breaking promises she made to keep things secret, for the sake of the greater good), and did her best to be a good partner. she desperately wanted to prove herself as someone worthy of the role, someone phoenix could be proud of, and if she had to work with akechi despite not liking him really at all, she could do it. but even so, she still felt like she was never going to reach akechi.

and she really only got the one week to do the role, too, so like. idk, at that point she was just tired. she didn't have the energy to try and aggressively befriend akechi so she just. didn't. she kind of resents him, for... everything, for being better than her at solving things, for being more helpful to the sisters and blue, for being a better partner to phoenix - there's a lot of shit to unpack there and she's supremely not interested in figuring it out.

so akechi just gets bitterness, and jealousy, and a sort of sadness that she couldn't be what she thought she should be for him.
