ANYA THE SWEETEST GIRL

i've said this before but anya very, very much reminds beau of jester, who beau loves more than anything. jester is a cheerful, cute, fashion-forward little lady with an accent and a streak of mischievousness that takes a lot of people by surprise. it was a near immediate comparison and anya endeared herself to beau like, the second she opened her mouth.

you mentioned in your tl;cr to me that beau reminds anya of minami and that's why anya was so insistent on taking care of beau, to make sure beau didn't burn out, and beau feels similarly for anya in that way. jester is very good at hiding the fact that she's sad or overwhelmed with a big smile and a lot of pranks, so beau figured anya might be like that too - anya kind of said as much a few times, telling beau that idols have to be happy for everybody. so beau watched and was careful to make sure anya knew how much beau appreciated her, and knew that beau was ready to drop everything to be a pillar for her. she wanted to make sure anya knew that if she was scared, she could come to beau, because it was (and is) very important for beau to feel like she can help that way. beau always feels like she's at her best when she's helping other people, and anya's no different.

but like - past that comparison, anya is very clearly her own person and beau's affection for her grew every week. for as sweet as jester is, she has a lot of her own problems and isn't always very good at asking after beau's mental health. anya, on the other hand, was, and the validation there meant a lot to beau. nobody brings beau breakfast! nobody just checks in on beau after she's beat to fuck! but here's anya, coming to find her and making sure she eats, and beau just - soaked that in. she felt cared for. just the little things like that make a big difference - this mansion has been a lot of firsts for beau and that was one of them. it was so easy for beau to just. admit that she was scared to anya, because she knew she could. anya wouldn't toss everything to be self-sacrificial and strong for beau to lean on, there could be like... mutual fear? and mutual comfort, and it made it easy for beau to accept because she didn't have to feel guilty for taking too much. she doesn't really feel that about any of the other teens or people here, save for maybe nhs, but there's other guilt there that makes it hard for beau to just accept the help. it was easy to ask for from anya and i don't think beau realized how important that was until - well. until anya died.

and like - that was devastating.

SO MUCH HAPPENED THAT WEEK. and i don't think beau ever really dealt with how she felt about it? she just swallowed it. it was the first blow in a series of blows that like, if beau hadn't known the GY was a thing, she would've just bluescreened. she felt like she'd lost a support that she didn't know she needed. it was so much lonelier, all of a sudden. beau threw herself into trying to learn Russian as much as she could to try and keep anya close. she missed anya's presence keenly and it felt like a little bit of light had gone out, but then.

the ghosts came back?? and seeing phoenix was one thing but GOD endgame stuff with anya really just cemented how much beau never wants to let anya out of her life again. beau is just as excited to see anya in the modao world as she is like, actually getting to spend time with nhs more, it's hilarious. THIS ENDGAME LOG of them just dancing and talking is the cutest shit ever too and beau's over the moon at the idea of anya being her like, maid of honor. it's gonna be the only good part of the wedding which beau is going to groan her way through bc she hates ceremonies ksdkfjksd.

anyway its amazing how important anya managed to be to beau, and she's so very, very glad that she doesn't have to say goodbye.
