and for this all i will write is #akiracrimes for the next 2 pages. JK!!! but akira left a strange impression on ken because it was SO GOOD for SO LONG but then akira continued to suffer from poor timing (THE ENTIRE GAME APPARENTLY) and locked himself out of getting any higher than rank 6 with him. kind of.

ok on the intro log there were exactly two people who were valid and akira was not one of them BUT he was someone who was an absolute delight to be around and ken took a quick liking to him because he was fun and didn’t immediately treat him like a kid (always a plus), not to mention he seemed cool. (oh ken…) he didn’t remind ken of anyone in particular but he could see him getting along with his senpai back home which is what made him feel that much more comfortable around him. then as they kept interacting and talking, ken came to trust akira with so much.

after all, akira flew right to rank 6 almost immediately without ken having much doubts about their relationship.

he felt like he could come to akira for anything as he would have his senpai back home…but even then, he held back on some things with them and akira was not spared either. the biggest factor for akira was how it seemed like he always had something up his sleeve—for as open as he was—there was something that always something… but that’s fine? Everyone had their secrets and he figured it was because they were both persona users that the ā€œairā€ of secrets just kind of expected. (unless your name is akechi then it doesn’t matter bc you’re a shifty binch). then the plot picked up in the game and it seemed as though there was another life that akira lived while he was here…

of course, people get involved in various things all of the time, but during the break-in, ken began to wonder how much akira did in the background and he began to worry about akira (secretly). they both hated what was going on and he worried that akira was taking too much on himself ala his protag-chan. …but before he could really question akira about it/see if he could offer himself up for assistance—everyone close to him started dying. dazai might not have been close to him in an emotional sense but he was his roommate and then phoenix…then ayabe. he figured that akira was close to a lot of people and thus would be burdened by a lot of things and so he kept much to himself. WHICH WAS MADE WORSE BY AKECHI… because while he had no idea of #akiracrimes, ken was already hesitant of who he felt he could get close to and that was the nail in the coffin to have him completely shut up. unfortunately.

it wasn’t as though he didn’t trust akira anymore, but he felt as though he had to stop relying on him… basically ken had a lot of trouble wanting to open up to people after ayabe died—then the dead came back and everything was better!!! though ken learned about messy teen drama and ken became 9000 years of ā€œwow I’m not even going to go thereā€. as far as end game goes—ken still genuinely likes and admires akira for who he is and how he treated him, but…getting to rank 7+ will be a challenge bc of akira (akechi) messing up u_u
