The hospital we were in contained the names and details of patients as if they were being treated for something - perhaps the same "disease" that causes us to . . . turn to monsters and kill. Those in the morgue found a list of names, and the reanimated bodies of those who were being held after their death to "study."

You have all mentioned "guests" before, though Peach claimed no deaths had occurred. I can see that this is clearly untrue.

[THAT IS THE WORST CORRECTION]

They were kept in cells, according to the ones who were in there. [But hold on] . . . Under these circumstances?

So you have always played these . . . games.

The dead. What happens to them. What do you do with their bodies?

[Is she asking like. Philosophical questions of him right now. Lio's too fucking stupid to connect that might mean anything, so he takes it deeply, deeply seriously.]

. . . No. I suppose not. While we are alive, we burn, and when we have burnt out, we return to ash, back to the earth.
madburnout: (7.)

[personal profile] madburnout 2020-03-09 12:20 am (UTC)(link)

[ . . . weird. But.]

It is not metaphorical. I am Burnish. We can wield the power of fire through our bodies. Normally, I can hear it, but here, I am cut off from its presence. I don't know how you've done that. A Burnish does not stop being Burnish, without-- [Well. Turning to ash.]
