...what happened with Nikki was horrible. But sometimes strange things happen in this house. People sometimes find themselves challenged and tapping into the subconscious parts of themselves.

Um, that doesn't usually involve turning into a literal giant rat.

Usually not. I think that was unique to Nikki herself.

So... are you saying that every week, someone's going to tap into their subconscious part of themselves and kill someone?

It's definitely a possibility, yeah. I'd love to say that it won't happen ever again, but...it's more likely that it will. Maybe the next week will be different though.

Was there a trigger for why Nikki? Granted, I didn't know her well, but I don't recall anything particular happening to her.

We're still trying to understand it ourselves why it was Nikki and why she chose to attack Haruka. I don't know if she really spoke to any of us, but we were surprised, too.

Sort of. And a lot of research.

Our research comes from across a lot of worlds to see what sort of solution we can come up with.

So you've got access to that kind of stuff, huh.

Yeah. It helps us understand all of you a little better and serve your needs to the best of our ability. But there's still a lot we haven't covered yet.

I'm not surprised. Most people can't even grasp the entirety of their own universe in their lifetime.

We're doing what we can but sometimes the best solution we find isn't the one everyone else agrees with. That's all.

A perfect solution rarely exists. Though, of course, that doesn't mean one shouldn't try to seek it out.

Do you think the people here will try to seek out a perfect solution?

[oathic]

Well, who knows? We already saw yesterday that everyone has differing values.

But I think most would agree that a solution that involves everyone returning home alive would probably be close to ideal.

I hope you're right. It'd be nice if people here worked together for that solution.

Well, that's only if their anger and fear doesn't get the best of them...
