[The boys ring the pink bell and Peach wanders in a short time later from the direction of the library. She opens her mouth to greet them both, but there's obviously an unlocked drawer so...she pauses...and she stares.]

What did you guys do?

[voidbreaker]

Hey Cobbler.

[ This is just the look of a smug cat (no pun intended) in a sunbeam, and it's on Ash's face. ]

... Just a little exploring.

[. . . mouthing Cobbler?? to himself]

Opened a locked drawer.

[HE ANSWERS SO CASUALLY]

I'm almost surprised nothing jumped out and bit us.

[She doesn't seem to mind the nickname, though her mouth curls up in vague amusement at the answers.]

Perhaps you got lucky? [Is. Is that a joke? We don't know!] I didn't know that breaking and entering was called exploring now.

[voidbreaker]

Put something behind a locked door, and people are gonna get curious.

[ it's just the truth. ] Like you didn't see half of us rattling this thing around the other week when we first got here.

We have a question about something we found in the drawer, actually.

Yeah but I didn't expect you to actually get it open. [But there's a little grin at the wording and she...hops up to sit on the desk. It's fine.]

But okay. What'd you find?

If you'd made it sound like a challenge earlier, one of us'd probably have done it sooner.

[ he lets akira knock him slightly with the nudge, swaying into it. then he holds out a hand to peach and opens it, revealing the little green triangle in the palm of his hand. ]

Wanna shed some light on this thing?

[Akira lets Ash ask first, before he chimes in with an addition]

We found it in the desk, along with some of Master Blue's stationary.

It wasn't supposed to be a challenge! [Huff! But she stops being pouty upon seeing this stone, blinking in surprise before she's just outright picking it up. She'll take a look...and she's putting it on like a ring? Before she puts it down and puts it back in Ash's hand.]

Never seen anything like this before?

[voidbreaker]

[ He just grins. ] It's a locked drawer. [ duh. ]

Me? Nah. It looks a bit like a pendant or something.

Huh. . .

[reaches out to take the item from Ash and. . . put it on his own finger like a ring. ????]

We thought your or your sisters might know. I assume this is Master Blue's desk, right?

Interesting assumption. [But that's all she says on it before she looks at the item on Akira's finger again.]

I don't know what it's really called, but we've seen it before. It's a neat little tool that's good for bad things. [Hm.]

[ ash frowns at the little green triangle, like he isn’t sure what to make of it. ]

Bad things ... like? It doesn’t look bog enough to cause any damage. Wonder what it’s used with?

[NEAT LITTLE TOOL THAT IS GOOD FOR BAD THINGS]

You don't think that bad things can also be good things? [An innocent blink.] Sometimes the bad things are meant to help find good things.

[voidbreaker]

Now it's kinda convoluted. [ He just gives her a thoughtful look, and glances over at Akira. Any bright spark moments there, bandit #1? ]

Like... putting up with something shitty for a short time for bigger rewards?

Bad things can be used for good reasons, yeah. But it depends on the bad thing.

[holds up the trinket]

Then is this meant to help someone find a good thing?

[Her tail swishes a little.]

That's absolutely a possibility. A good item for bad things, and a found item for lost things. Even if you don't know what's been lost right away...it might help you find what you're looking for.

[voidbreaker]

[ ash is just gonna take the little green thing back from akira and pop it on his own finger, seeing as he's the only one not in the cool kid's club right now. after a moment he'll just lift it up and peer through the hole like a monocle. ]

So, we just gotta narrow down the "lost thing", if that's how it works. [ Oh. Easy. ]

... Wonder if it'll track down Snowbunny's killer for us?

[a funny look crosses Akira's expression when Ash says that, and he reaches out to touch his friend's upper arm]

We don't need it for that.

[he says quietly. and then, to Peach]

Can you be a little more specific? Some of us didn't sleep last night and we're not firing on all cylinders.

[She's giving both of them a quiet look as she hums to herself. ]

Keep your eyes open and it'll make sense when you least expect it to. It might not be a bad idea to keep it on you if you ever decide to seek out answers on your own time, y'know? I'd hold onto it.

Are you going to tell anyone you found it?

[voidbreaker]

We worked hard for it, y'know. I'm not giving it up just like that.

[ He's still looking through it as he looks over at Akira to see if that's fine. ]

... Yeah. I've got someone who's asking me to break open the whole thing with an axe. Figured Monobun wouldn't appreciate the damage, so I'm gonna have to tell them before they take a crack at it themselves.

[squints. . .]

So you're telling us to keep it on us and just. . . wait?

[he doesn't like that!! he wants to know what to use it for now!! but he gives a sigh, because he thinks this is just another one of those things that Peach and her sisters can't be more specific about]

I don't plan on telling anyone. If you do, Ash, why don't you keep it?

[cluedin]

[...she's just closing her eyes.]

Please refrain from allowing your friends to beat up our furniture, Ash. [DONT ENCOURAGE SOMEONE TO BEAT IT WITH AN AXE?]
