[well, this is probably questionable timing, but it's fine.
since they got a closet, agni's managed to make a sheath of sorts for his sword, so finally, he doesn't have to spare a hand holding it. and thus, here he is, examining the door and taking out a scalpel.]
Hmm... maybe if I try this...?
[someone does not have any real lockpicking skill because why would a god ever need to do that when he can just. teleport into the room. but he's trying his best.
unfortunately, his best fails, but that's also the story of his life.]
[ and here Horikawa proves that no matter how much of a braincell he likes to pretend he is, he too is in fact a headstrong idiot member of the shinsengumi and with a cry, slashes at the door.
[ Ayabe is quiet, hanging back from the group with his hands tucked into his pockets. When Babo Kim (which I'm doomed to type out forever bc Ayabe never learned this other name??) gets that scalpel out, he turns his eyes away to the floor and doesn't look up until he hears the crack and the quiet clank of metal on the floor. He especially stays back when Horikawa gets his blade out, holding his breath while the blade strikes hard and gets pushed back. No luck.
He sort of wishes he were alone. To be around other people right now... But he can't just walk away now, and so he steps forward in front of the door, remembering Hunter's words to him. Open sesame," he'd said, and the door had opened. Ayabe opens his mouth to say it too, bUT IT'S JUST SO CHILDISH AND PEOPLE ARE WATCHING so he closes his mouth again and busies himself finding something in a small pocket in his guitar case that he's absolutely lugging around everywhere.
It's a screwdriver! If we can't break the door, we'll just remove the entire door!! He can put the screws back in later too so Plum won't kill them for destroying the house.
...
...
...
There's another quiet clink of metal on the ground. The door also comes off the hinges? Do we still need this key. ]
[The scalpel breaks, the sword bounces off of the door, and while they get a really quick glimpse inside and see a pitch black room with a bunch of lights flashing, it won't be long enough for them to step inside or get a good look. The door pops off of its hinges and when the key falls to the floor it automatically magnetizes back to the frame.
[ sometimes hori isn't valid so what if he just stands back while the other two deal with the door...? he'll be here to Attack On Sight if anything comes charging out at them ]
[ Ayabe is so shocked by this automatically magnetized door that he leaves the key to Agni to pick up. There shouldn't be hinges on the door at all if it just seals up by itself?? Okay. Ayabe makes sure there's no loose screws or broken scalpel blade on the ground for anybody to accidentally step in, and then moves aside so Agni can open the door and Hori can start swinging at anything that might jump out at them.
He's fine bringing up the rear and letting these two lead. ]
[Well with everyone standing up and opening the door, they'll find a dark room ahead. Red, blue, and white lights seem to flash on occasion, and as they enter the room they'll hear a strange sound echoing off the wall.
Under that, they'll also hear another sound from the other side of the room.
And like all things in this house, for no rhyme or reason the door slams shut behind them as they head inside. The light from the hall disappears and they'll have to figure out what to do next.]
... Hey, isn't this sound similar to when Nie and Beau tried using the board during trial?
[just to make sure, it doesn't smell like, uh. leaking gas anywhere right? because if not, agni will take out his lighter to at least have some light. OTHERWISE, HE WOULD NOT, HE IS NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO KILL EVERYONE VIA EXPLOSION.
[ I still hope the next tag is KABOOM!!! but out of the two sounds, Ayabe's more familiar with the dial-up, trying to find the source of it.
Despite entering all together, Ayabe's bringing up the rear and so he just turns right, silently, intent on following the wall beside the door to see how far this place extends instead of walking straight forward, whether it's light or dark.
Goodbye. Ayabe is unsurprisingly(?) not a team player. ]
[It doesn't quite smell like gas! It does, however, smell a little like gunpowder. On the brightside though Agni won't be blowing any of them up. He'll be able to use the light to see ahead of him.
It's also why he'll see the rope trap on the floor just a little too late, the binding wrapping around his ankle and suddenly hauling him up toward the ceiling. If he's not caught in time? Well. He'll disappear...
Hori will split off toward the left where the other sound is, and he'll hear it louder. Is Hori familiar with Morse? He might pick up on the fact that there's a message being typed out repeatedly: S E E K A W A Y O U T
Ayabe will venture off to the right and he's going to find that this room's actually deceptively long. He should maybe be careful about where he's going though because while he's focused on feeling up the wall, he will find himself running directly into something large and heavy and may end up tripping over himself. The dial-up seems to be coming from the far right wall though, so good try!
Anyway yeah. Can't believe they might just let Agni go while they're focusing on following the sounds.]
[ Hori whips around from where he's squinting at the beeps, tilting his head like it was gonna help translate the beeps into something understandable. alas, that problem when your immortal is Too Old to be of use. the real question is did the lighter go out when agni when up and is he now just squinting at the shadows trying to see what the hickity heck happened? you know, as you do. ]
[ Two whole people from Ayabe's canon specializes in morse code but unfortunately he is not one of them. Ayabe whips around when he hears the other two of them shout, runs into whatever that thing is on the ground, trips and eats shit. I hope it's a dead body. ]
[You ever realize you're just two dudes standing in the dark? That's Hori and Ayabe right now because Agni's up, up and awaaaaaay and taking his lighter with him! You might want to try and find a lightswitch because the small flashing lights won't be enough to help you right now.
Ayabe trips and when he hits the floor he'll come to realize it's a large, plush chair. There also appears to be something under it that he would not have seen had he not laid down on the floor.
Agni's disappearing into the ceiling, a fake panel moving away to draw him up before sealing him inside another area. They appear to be air vents, and from his left he can hear something skittering. To the right, something seems to be ticking like some sort of countdown.
Hori really is their only hope right now. Good luck.]
heres hoping that hori actually brought some sort of pen light with him?? but if he doesn't get to it hopefully, the occasional flashes of light are bright enough for him to squint out a light switch and stumble his way there. and if he's lucky he'll even do so without tripping over ayabe...!! ]
[ Babo Kim: wow! there might be a ticking bomb, so I'm going to move further into the blast radius!
The lack of light seems to be lower on Ayabe's priority list, figuring that he's right next to the wall and can always find his way back if he needs to regroup or reorient himself. With the faintest of lights hinting him, he reaches under the chair with his left hand.
Maybe he finds a flashlight! Maybe it's a severed arm. The only way to progress is to do things, so that's what we're doing. ]
[Agni will have to armycrawl for a little bit, but as he goes to the right he'll hear the ticking grow louder. Cool. At least with the lights Hori will be able to fumble his way to the wall and feel around for a switch and successfully flip it on.
They'll be greeted by several things all at once. One table flanked to the left is home to a telegraph machine that seems to be operating by itself, the same message on repeat over and over again. The lights all seem to belong to a desk pressed against the back left corner filled with telephones, lines on hold and blinking, waiting for calls to connect. To the right, in the direction Ayabe was going, there's a set-up with a large plush chair and on the wall above it appears to be several maps and several clocks. There's a desk on that wall all the way to the right that houses a few very old computers, all set to the loading screen trying to connect to a signal.
In the center, there's an executive desk with several locked drawers, a typewriter, a desk lamp, and another phone. Two metal lockers are in the right corner of the room, and there's a locked metal door directly across from the door they entered. If they look up, they won't be able to see where Agni disappeared to. He's not too far though, seeing how they can still hear him crawling around up there. With that said?
Welcome to the war room, boys.
Ayabe unfortunately grabbed for the stray item under the chair before the lights came on, and pulls out...a stray arm! Congrats! Fortunately, however, the arm is fake and seems to be dressed in a camoflauge sleeve.
As for Agni on his tunnel adventures, he'll be able to hear the ticking, but as he hits a fork in the path he'll hear it from both the right and the left. There all appears to be the sound of someone...humming...]
[ uuuuuh holy shit, fam. hori stares up at the ceiling, squinting at wherever agni is banging around up there ]
Babo Kim-san, can you hear us....?
[ HEWWO? while agni may or may not answer, hori goes to check on ayabe and his new arm friend, glancing over the clocks and maps. anything familiar on those he'd notice? times, places, etc? ]
[ Uh. Without the light, he couldn't see what happened to Babo Kim, so he's just left staring up at the ceiling copying Hori. Gonna assume that's him up there in the ceiling, and he sounds alive, so that's good. Ayabe straightens up and waves the fake arm at Hori as his answer, and then unzips his guitar case so he can stuff it inside. This one's for you, Rocket.
He takes a cursory look around the place, at the maps in front of him, but then he leaves to check out the desk at the center of the room. Important things sit in the middle of the room, this is what he knows from the student council room.
Being the very normal high school boy that he is, the first thing he does here is pick up the phone and dial 119. ]
[Hori's voice is muffled but Agni can at least hear them down below. The humming continues and seems to be following him, but the ticking is growing quieter as he moves on. As he's going, he'll notice a light ahead, but it's in the opposite direction of the ticking.
Hori will recognize that the clocks display times for places such as New York, Tokyo, Sydney, and a few places he won't recognize such as Midgar, Hyrule, Corona, Twilight Town, etc. All of the clocks display something different, but if Hori's looking closely he may notice that the second hands aren't moving. The maps seem to display maps of similar locations, including a lot that he doesn't recognize. The maps have push pins all over them to indicate certain areas. There are also blueprints of the house over to the left of those maps with white chalkmarks drawn all over them.
...the arm goes in the guitar case, so that's nice. Goodbye arm. Ayabe will find himself faced with a phone and as he picks up the dial 119, he'll hear the phone ring before the line connects and the sound of heavy breathing fills the line.]
