I have a few, but I'd like to hear them from you, Detective. [A beat.] We can go to the kitchen if you'd like? Or you can come in, we have a coffee maker in the room.
We're already here, aren't we? [Gesturing at the door... Kitchen is too many flights of stairs away.] And I have to admit, I've been curious to know what arrangements have been made for you and your sisters.
You're curious about a lot of things in this place still, aren't you? [But that's not a no. She...has grown to tentatively respect and maybe even like Akechi, so she turns to open the door. Apparently it's only locked to guests and not to her or her sisters.
Immediately Akechi's going to see a bed on one side of the room. This side of the room also has a small bookshelf with science fiction and romance novels, a piano, a ukulele and a violin. It's the tidiest and there's also a dresser and the door to a closet. Somewhere in the middle is...a mess of wires and game consoles, all plugged in and tangled with each other in front of a TV. A small pile of beanbag chairs are clustered in this area as well. On the third wall there's a door for a bathroom, but there's also a desk littered with art supplies, papers, etc. There's another desk full of science equipment and notes and books, another small bookcase crammed with books of all kinds. There's a flower crown is resting on top of the bookcase, and there are hand-drawn pictures other guests have given Peach hanging on the wall. Pumpkin and Plum's flower crowns are in sight, too, and Akechi might recognize them as the ones Beau's given the girls. It's...a pretty standard room? The girls also have a small vacuum cleaner right next to a stockpile of snacks. Peach is immediately pulling out her desk chair for Akechi while digging for her coffee maker.]
Make yourself comfortable. This shouldn't take long.
Of course. Isn't that a good quality to find in a detective? [Even if Akechi is a dumb bitch.
He will take the seat that's offered to him, though, crossing one leg over the other as he glances around. This tracks? This tracks. Plum continues to be the binch he respects the most in this house. Save her.]
I suppose so. There is a reason you were chosen. [But she'll go about making the coffee, letting it drip and bubble. It doesn't take long before a pot is made and she's pouring him a cup and bringing it to him. She'll take her own and she'll take a seat in one of the other spaces available.]
[He mutters a quick thank you as he takes his cup, letting it warm his hands before taking a small sip from it.]
... Yes, I recall you said something similar in the past. [Something, something, Master Blue. Maybe it was one of her sisters, instead, but...] Has your master chosen someone to take Phoenix-san's place already?
[There's a nod. Probably. She does say things like that.]
Yes, though we do sometimes recommend people of interest to the Master for suggestions. [She looks a little bummed though if only because she really likes Phoenix.] It won't necessarily replace him, but it's just like with Mammon. Two of you working together is important.
[...] People are starting to ask questions, by the way. Have you...told anybody about what you're doing?
[Peach looks bummed, and Akechi looks... like a whole ass new partner is the last thing he wants right now. Or, like, ever.]
... Is that truly necessary? [Probably, yeah. She literally just said it's important, after all. Doesn't mean he likes it.] And what will become of our partnership with Luna?
[Or maybe Luna will die next week, too, and that won't be an issue any longer. Either way, he lifts an eyebrow at her question.]
You asked us to be discreet. There is no one who knows about my job outside of the ones in our group.
Your new partner will meet with Luna as well. And we'll be there. We...we'll take care of everything.
[Hm. But she seems to be staring at him over the rim of her coffee cup.] I recall what we asked, I was just curious. I don't think Nick told anybody either, and...well, you saw what happened with Luna. [But she seems to be considering something.] ...were you truly this resistant to teamwork back home, too?
[Well. He relaxes a bit at the news that their arrangement didn't go up in flames along with Phoenix, so there's that. Her question does catch him off-guard, however, if only because he distinctly remembers never telling her shit about what happened to him back home.]
... What do you mean?
[Peach??? Can't believe Akira is going to die because Akechi will kill him once he realizes he tattled on him.]
[Where is she going with this? He gives her a look.]
He pitied me. As if I'm someone who needs to be saved. [Disdainfully, and a little matter-of-factly. Like Peach is the one who has it wrong.] Why bring it up now? He's dead.
Phoenix believed that of everyone, that's why he was someone we chose when things started to look really bad! It's not pity when he wanted to save everyone. Isn't that part of the greater concerns in the first place?

Take your time, Peach-san.
[He will be patient for the sake of coffee.]

But surely you know that, too.

Were you really working by yourself back home? That's not a hard question, is it?

Oh, I see. How much did Akira tell you?

Back home, most of the tasks I undertook allowed me the freedom to work by myself. [Very matter-of-factly.] Teammates only slow me down.

Have your teammates here slowed you down as well?
