It wasn't exactly like that, no. But as members of the staff it's our job to be prepared for anything just in case. We didn't know it would happen until it had already happened.

Does this kind of thing usually happen at Master Blue's events?

Well...not quite like this. But strange things have happened before during Master Blue's events. We've learned to prepare for just about anything.

And how high is your guest satisfaction at these events, usually...?

Then why do you keep hosting them?

Master Blue has reasons for continuing to host these events. I imagine the reason so many of you were invited this time is with the idea that maybe things will go differently. But I'm not really sure.

Let me guess: you can't say what his reasons for hosting these are.

We would if we could but...I can assure you that the Master's intentions are good.

What will happen to Haruka and Nikki's souls? Since this is a different universe, I assume they won't be sent to Yama for judgment...

...both of them will be taken care of. Especially now that the monster has been purged from Nikki. I think judgment's already been made anyway, hasn't it?

[Like she's not sure, but it's a prompting sort of question that sounds better than "what's Yama?"]

Not quite. But they won't be in the mansion anymore either.

... Would you say they're truly dead? Or could their soul be returned to their body, in some fashion?

[cluedin]

Um...[And now she looks puzzled.]

I don't really know about that. I haven't done a lot of reading about souls. Is that a common thing where you're from?

Well, it depends on the scope on which you view death... but for a human, there's a short window for them to be revived.

[things get complicated from there, but the simplified version is:]

So you could argue they aren't truly dead until the underworld has crossed their name off and collected their soul, and then sent them to Paradise, Hell, or to be reincarnated as a new person entirely, in which case they can never return to the living realm as they once were.

Oh. [There's a long pause as she thinks....and then the oven timer goes off. Give her a moment before she's pulling out a mushroom personal pizza and putting it on a plate for Babo Kim. Here you go.]

Yeah, I don't know if it's anything like that. I don't think they're truly dead but they can't really return easily either.

Do Master Blue's "good intentions" take that into account?

...yes. Master Blue isn't always good at talking to people, but those things are taken into account, too.

... You know, I've lived a long time, so I've heard pretty much every reasoning there is—why it's acceptable for people to die for a greater good.

It's not like I don't get it, but people don't take well to being told, "well, you might have to die, but I promise it's for a good result." To be honest, I don't blame them.

What would it take for those souls to be returned?

I don't blame them either. [Her tail swishes a little behind her as she looks to the side.] Even if it's for a purpose it's still sad sometimes.

...it'll take some work, but we're still figuring out all of the steps. I wish I had a better answer, but we're trying to understand, too. I get that people won't believe us or want to help if this keeps happening though.

None taken! [Like for real, she's actually a little more than okay with that answer.]

...what happened with Nikki was horrible. But sometimes strange things happen in this house. People sometimes find themselves challenged and tapping into the subconscious parts of themselves.

Um, that doesn't usually involve turning into a literal giant rat.
