[He nods.]

Yeah. Like, really young. Nobody's ever told you that before...?

[He sighs.]

Well, they were. And, I mean, most of us are, too. Usually the cut off age is around 18, but I'd definitely put it higher for something like this.

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
...I thought you picked us all specifically?

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I guess it doesn't matter since we're not going to let that happen.

[Still, though, he looks curious.]

If that's the case, though, in a hypothetical and definitely not real situation where this happens over again, wouldn't you be able to pick people who are older than us...?

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
[He pauses, surprised, but:]

Okay, I have numerous questions about why you picked some of these people, but first off - you get why bringing someone young here is bad, right? Or has nobody explained that to you either...?

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but - there are degrees of bad. An 11 year old and a dog are, like, at the top of the list of bad to bring here.

I know they've helped, that isn't the point. The point is that - I mean, even if someone is helpful, there are a lot of reasons they shouldn't have to be put in a situation where they could easily get murdered. Being a kid is probably the biggest reason.

...I get the feeling you aren't listening to me.

I guess it's just... Okay, so like. Let's take Luna and Ken as examples. Maybe based on their personality or soul or whatever, they were good choices.

[He hesitates for a moment, trying to find a way to explain this to them that might break through.]

And sure, nobody should be put in this situation, but if you're talking about a situation where people are definitely going to die, do you see why it's unfair to bring someone who's barely had a chance to live their life? Like, despite what people have told you, 11 is really young.

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
No, she definitely is, but - 25 is more than twice as old as 11.

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
...Which means he's a lot younger than she is, and it's not a good thing that he's here. Which, yes, I know that it's not a good thing any of us are here, but it's worse for someone like him.

[personal profile] counterclocked 2020-03-24 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! You got it.

[He looks unreasonably excited about this breakthrough.]

Like I said, though - I think we got this. It probably won't happen again.

[...]

So, what'll you do when you get to leave?
