Sputtering, he jerks his head and shoulders up, blinking snow out of his lashes and looking around wildly.] What the hell is this?! [Not the snow, but the place. It takes a few moments, but he scrambles up, throwing his arms around himself and hunching. It's cold as hell!]
I'm fine! [Once he snatches up one of the remaining jackets.] Why do we have to pull it?! No one wants to pull a stupid sled! I'm walking ahead!
[Not everything is about yetis, Francy. Anyway so I guess Jin Ling is heading down the path and he's bundled in a jacket. Toi also has a jacket, and both boys will feel something weighted inside the pockets...
Huaisang, pocking around the jacket in his hand, will find what appears to be a pair of sharp silver scissors! As Anya also moves ahead, the sled begins to follow by itself. The path is peaceful and regardless of where they are everywhere around them seems quiet and still. Snow's falling enough that they can catch snowflakes on their tongue, and while they walk they begin to find pawprints.
Anya might be on to something, except these prints are much bigger than any standard wolf and seem to stray off onto two separate paths. There's a lamp post at the end of the path that sits at the head of a fork in the road. To the left, or to the right?]
[the scissors will be put in his belt, within reach, while he pulls out his metal fan to hold in one hand. just in case.
also he's going to sit on the sled and see if it still moves! if not, he'll give in and walk... either way, he pauses at the fork, fan waving in each direction.]
I really don't know that one looks better or worse than the other.
[she glances in the direction of nie's scissors... and tilts her head before going to retrieve a jacket too, just to see if there's anything interesting inside it!
though she'll look a little bit nervous at the prints that seem to be far too big, and she squares her shoulders as she's a little bit more on alert]
... Be careful, both ways.
[she has a feeling that they're going to do whatever they want and she can't decide on her own, but can she sees if one set of tracks looks more recent than the others based on snowfall? is there anything to hear in one direction or the other?]
[ toi will also stick his hand in his pocket to see what this is ]
They're both probably going to be terrible.
[ he is looking towards the left, but then he just looks at jin ling because something tells him that he will make the decision for them by being a fucking moron ]
[Hm, weird. Jin Ling digs into the pocket to see what he's got, and hopefully it snaps a finger off. He also watches those tracks go by, too. That's....disconcerting.]
Then it won't matter which way. We can handle it. It could be a yao. If it's dead, it's a monster. [He sniffs the air?] But I don't smell any decay...
[Yet.
But refusing not to be in the lead when he already is, he turns and heads down the left path cautiously because that's what a coin toss gave me, so don't kill me when everything goes to shit.]
[I'm glad for Huaisang's priorities but yes the sled continues to move even if he's sitting on it. He'll even hear faint barking around him now that he's sitting! If Anya's looking at the snow, she'll see that the larger prints seem pretty recent, but now that she's looking at the ground she'll see that in front of the sled small dog-sized pawprints are appearing right before her eyes as the sled's dragged toward the left.
Anya's magic pockets give her five spools of thread in the primary colors, black and white. Toi's pockets provide him with a measuring tape and a small six-inch ruler, and Jin Ling promptly stabs himself with a handful of needles. Nice. As they venture down the left path, the snow seems to be thickening as it falls, but the ice is just as slippery under their feet. They can hear the sound of jingle bells up ahead, but seeing might be a little difficult.]
[he's peering around at the sound of faint barking, now that he can hear it, there you go anna. nie huaisang stays on the sled for now, though, doing his best to keep an eye out ahead of them despite the heavier snowfall.]
And don't get too far ahead! We really shouldn't risk being separated, please don't leave me behind...
[what if monsters come from the back too!!
also it's probably safer to stay closer but you know.]
[she. points down at the ones that seem to be appearing in front of her eyes?? she will look between the prints and nie, and the moving sled - and then carefully step on to join him so she doesn't have to walk anymore too]
ะะผะตััะต. Will stay together - no one left behind.
Ouch! [STOP, LET THE NEEDLES BE IN ONE OF THOSE LITTLE TOMATO PINCUSHIONS. That is what he pulls out, leave me alone.] --Dogs?!
[He almost drops the needles in his rush right back over to the sled with everyone else.] Where?! [THERE ARE NO DOGS. Wait. Now that he's closer, he can see the little prints appearing on the ground, and his eyes grow wider.
GHOST DOGS?
Stupidly, he reaches out to touch the area where they'd be because let him pet the dogs. :'(] Huh? I have this thing. [The tomato needle pincushion.
Also, he stands on the back of the sled? if it's a dog-like sled? Because of course he does.]
[The sled is big enough for all four of them, and the needles are partially in a cushion and partially just freewheeling, sorry Jin Ling. Once all of them are on the sled, they'll be able to see a large team of beautiful fluffy snow dogs! They're white and large and almost appear to be made out of snow themselves. Soft clouds...with all of them on the sled, the barking is louder now.
Jin Ling probably touched a butt without realizing it.
With all of them on the sled though the lead dog looks back and barks. Hope they're all holding on because the sled is suddenly picking up high speeds, much faster than a dog sled has any right to be. Into the snow they go! With the snowstorm around them and the dogs running, the four of them will see they're passing icicles and trees with shoes and jewelry hanging from them. At the speed they're going, some of the trees whip back and forth and if they aren't careful they will get smacked with some of these items. Will they try to slow the dogs down, or let them run?]
We do, don't we... um, how many of us know how to use them? I can, just a bit.
[but then jin ling is joining them and there are soft cloud dogs and oh no, they're cute. oh no they're FAST. the trees definitely smack huaisang with some of the jewelry, and he holds a hand to the spot, voice nearly a wail.]
Oww-!! Slow down a little, please slow down!
[he doesn't know how to control dogs, ok. he's also kind of trying to make a grab for what hit him as his hands fly up to where he was smacked, just to see if he can snag whatever it was.]
[oh - anya is immediately going to try to steady herself on the sled, presuming there's some kind of bar to hold onto for balance?? it comes with a little crouch as she looks up at the icicles distrustfully - ]
Careful - might fall.
[but she hears nie's panic and tries to think. her family never quite had sled dogs???]
ะะตะดะปะตะฝะฝัะน! Slow!
[are there any reins for the sled dogs, are they on harnesses, is there a brake on the sled,,]
[WOW, WHOA. He slams his pricked (๐) hands on the sled after putting the cushion back in his pocket, holding on for dear life. It's a bit easier for him to dodge the icicles and other things, but his long ponytail snags a necklace when it whips out behind him, yanking some hair.]
F-fuck!
[He tries to hunch low, but raise up enough the dogs can hear him.] Aiya! What are you running so fast for?! Where are you taking us?! We're going fast enough! Slow down! I'll make you some meat sticks! [Good god why are they so fast. Please say there are reins or a brake.]
[Huaisang and Toi will find they've both been beaned with what's essentially bright and color costume jewelry! A pair of shoes in Anya's size and a matching purse also fall onto the sled, and the necklace pulls on Jin Ling's hair and now it's dangling from his ponytail. RIP.
There are reins but they're also ice cold! They're free to grab them and onto the sides of the sled, but as they're whipping this way down the path they'll also find that there's a bridge ahead with a large gap they'll have to cross. The dogs continue to run, and as they approach they'll see that among the snow occasionally there are flower petals floating through the sky.
At the mention of meat sticks, however, all dogs come to a standstill and the sled jerks to a halt right at the edge of that gap. It balances precariously, teetering back and forth over what looks like an icy, rocky river. But the dogs refuse to move now. At least they're able to see that hanging from nearby trees are diamond necklaces, bright bangles, purses, scarfs, and all sorts of fashion accessories.
They may want to think of a course of action because the longer they sit the more likely their sled will fall.]
anya is going to be just a little bit alarmed, trying to balance against nieโs weight so that they donโt just completely go plummeting into the river, looking up at the trees and sheโll test to see if they can grab a scarf without it falling???
because if thatโs a viable escape route sheโs going to see how many of them can get hauled up off the sled safely]
Sect Leader Nie! Stop! Just wait until we're re-- Both of you! Stop!
[God! He hops off very carefully, holding onto the sled so he can attempt to help Toi pull it and the dogs back. I almost typed spspsp, but that does not work on dogs. So he sticks his fingers in his mouth and gives a whistle.]
Come on! Back! [Sheesh.] Are we meant to jump it in the sled? [A pause.] We can sew something to get across the gap, but I'll have to jump it with the sled to get one side across.
[The dogs are stubborn, pulling against the reins. Some are backing up but others seem to be stamping their feet like they want to keep going. RUN? RUN. There's also a sudden round of barking as something in the distance howls back.
Good job not plummeting to death though. Anya will be able to grab a scarf, finding it to be sturdy and slowly winding around her wrist. It's an option, at least if they wish to abandon the dogs. I was going to say pulling the dogs alone won't help but backing up the sled is helping even if the bridge crumbles a little beneath them. An icy chill whips through the air, and now that Anya's grabbed a scarf several others begin slithering down from the trees.]
Do you really think we should...? What if we just get stuck up there?
[on the other hand... better than falling and dying!]
If... if we can't get the dogs to back away enough, then perhaps we should try going up.
[he'll try to help tug on the reins, he still doesn't want to get off the sled entirely. if it starts to fall though he will absolutely reach for a scarf.]
[she will look between the rest of them and honestly she just doesn't want anyone to get hurt on this adventure?? she frowns, letting her hand hold onto the scarf so at least one of them is sturdy, and so she can grab onto the others if necessary but - ]
Mm.... Hold scarf for balance then - ะัะธะฝะตัะธ! Throw something for fetch to get dogs to chase so they do not fall.
[she absolutely will not let these dogs just crumble but the crumbling bridge is definitely making her nervous if they don't move faster than this]
no subject
this might as well just happen. ]
Or yetis.
[ there were zombies last week. toi is not expecting something normal.
but he will get up, brush himself off, and hurry to get a coat because unlike those two fucks, he is not from russia or fantasy russia ]
We don't have dogs for the sled. We just pull it?
